Things to do in Malbork Castle

Malbork Castle is the largest brick castle in the world and the largest castle in Europe by area, built on the Nogat river as the capital of the Teutonic Order and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits about 60 kilometres from Gdansk, roughly 50 minutes by train, an easy day trip on paper.

In practice, this is not a quick stop: the scale of a castle this size means the full route through the High, Middle and Low Castles takes three to four hours to see properly, and a standard adult ticket runs to roughly 80 PLN, with an audioguide included.

Treat Malbork as the focus of the day rather than a stopover squeezed between other plans, and check current opening hours before travelling, since they contract in the winter months.
